How does Epiduo Gel work?
The two active ingredients of Epiduo Gel – benzoyl peroxide and adapalene work differently in providing treatment to acne pimples. Benzoyl peroxide has the ability to reduce reducing the number of bacteria that cause acne and cause the skin to dry and eventually peel off.
Adapalene works by affecting the growth of cells and decreasing swelling and inflammation.
What are the benefits of using Epiduo Gel?
Epiduo Gel combines two medications that are similar to vitamin A and an antibacterial medication that has a mild drying effect used to treat acne in people who are at least 12 years of age.
Epiduo is effective in providing relief to the chronic problem of acne pimples. The gel reduces the bacteria that cause acne and cause the skin to dry and peel off, showing new clear skin free of acne.
It is also effective in decreasing the swelling and inflammation of acne pimples on facial skin.
Apply a thin layer of Epiduo gel to the affected area once daily in the evening.
You should apply gel to the whole affected area, not just the spots themselves.
Use continuously for up to THREE months.
Main side-effects are:
Dry skin: If this occurs you can use a non-comedogenic moisturiser (like Cetaphil) to remoisturise the skin.
Irritant contact dermatitis.
Skin irritation and burning: You should reduce the frequency of application or discontinue use until your skin is better then slowly reintroduce treatment.

The inactive ingredients are docusate sodium, disodium edetate, glycerol, poloxamer, propylene glycol (E1520), Simulgel 600 PHA and purified water.
